Pebble Beach Tournament Picks

And here is what Lucius Riccio wrote to us at GPD about his pics this week.  Get the inside scoop right here!

Here are my picks:

It’s hard enough picking winners for events with one course, it become exponentially more difficult for events with three courses. Finding the qualities that work for one course may not work on another. So the Model understandably picks the best all around players. As expected the top players in the world come out well in the Model’s predictions. Not surprisingly Spieth, Rahm, and Dustin all rank high in the Model’s estimation. Also the resurgent play of both Day and McIroy make them favorites. Bubba comes out well, and his recent play might just indicate he’s ready to return to form after a miserable 2017. In addition Paul Casey likes these courses and could be a factor. And Austin Cook, a winner in the Fall, has been a Model pick several times.
But there are some additional surprises with the Model’s picks. Two “unknown” players pop up. The question is: is this the kind of event someone can come out of nowhere to do well? Well, the Model says they can. Keith Mitchell and in particular Brandon Harkins seem to have the games to contend here. The Model says they are better than long shots even though their names don’t ring a bell for most fans.
Just below the Model’s top ten lurk Kuchar, Snedeker and Mickelson. Although I’m not picking them, I wouldn’t be surprised if they are in the hunt on Sunday.
  1. Harkins
  2. Spieth
  3. Cook
  4. Rahm
  5. Day
  6. Johnson, Dustin
  7. McIlroy
  8. Casey
  9. Watson
  10. Mitchell
