Lou Riccio’s Predictions for the Fed Ex St Jude Classic
Posted on June 5th, 2018 by Herb Rubenstein
Although the Model didn’t have any of the three playoff guys at the Memorial, it did pick the 4th (Cantlay), 6th (Rose), two 8ths (DJ and McIlroy), and 4 guys at 13th, one shot out of the top ten. Nine made the cut, Spieth the one who didn’t. (Figure that out.) So with 4 top tens and 8 top 13s, it had to be considered a good week for the Model even without the winner.
This week’s outcome, the week before the US Open, depends on who will be trying their best and who will be warming up for the Open. Assuming everyone is “in it to win it”, the Model’s top three picks, no matter what is emphasized, are Dustin, Koepka, and Stenson. That’s not much of a surprise since they are probably the top three players in the field. It then picks two “old timers” in Stricker and Michelson. Of those two, Michelson has had the better showings recently, including one of the 13’s at the Memorial.
After those 5, the probabilities drop significantly. Finau and Bradley are the Model’s next two picks. Finau had another good week at the Memorial with a 13th place finish. Not sure if he can move up however and be a stronger Sunday contender. Bradley has been nibbling around the top with three top tens this year and may be ready for a break though.
The last three picks are really a toss up. The Model likes Cook, Berger, and Snedeker to complete it’s top ten, but their probabilities are significantly lower than those above.

And who will win the US Open? Could it be Keegan Bradley on his home, Long Island, turf. Don’t count him out!
